A Letter from the Owner

You may have heard of Bill Pyatt's Tree Service. That was my father's company. My siblings and I started working with him at a young age, each of us raking, dragging brush and contributing to the family business after school. My passion for tree work started young. My siblings (10 of them) all grew up to do different things, but trees have been my specialty ever since. At the age of 18, I branched out onto my own with my father's blessing and opened what is now BP Tree Services, LLC. I worked many projects with my DAD, up into his 80's before he passed away.

I am confident that I am one of the most experienced resources here in Sacramento when it comes to trees. Eight local tree services call on me personally when there are large, complex removals over structures. I hand pick my teams and heavily oversee all operations of the business personally. BP Tree Services, LLC. takes great pride in putting our name, my name, on a job and leaving everyone satisfied and educated about their trees. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns regarding your tree's, your job, or your experience with BP Tree Services. I am happy to provide personal, professional and competitors references upon request.

Sincerely,
Billy Pyatt, Jr.

After a tree has been removed, the remaining stump can become an eyesore, create safety hazards, and interfere with landscaping plans. Many Sacramento homeowners choose stump grinding or stump removal to fully restore their outdoor spaces, but they often have questions about the process. At BP Tree Services, we’re happy to answer your questions about stump grinding and removal in the greater Sacramento area. What’s the Difference Between Stump Grinding and Stump Removal? Stump grinding involves using specialized equipment to grind the stump down below ground level, leaving the root system largely intact to decompose. Stump removal, on the other hand, involves extracting both the stump and major roots from the ground. Grinding is typically less invasive, while full removal may be preferred for certain construction or landscaping projects. Why Should I Remove a Tree Stump? Leaving a stump behind can create several problems. Stumps can become tripping hazards, attract pests such as termites and ants, and detract from your property's appearance. Some tree species may also produce new shoots from the remaining stump. Removing or grinding the stump helps eliminate these concerns and improves the usability of your yard. Can I Plant Grass or Landscaping After Stump Grinding? Yes. After stump grinding, the remaining wood chips can typically be either removed or used as mulch in other areas of the landscape. The ground can then be filled with topsoil and prepared for grass or other landscaping features. Many homeowners choose stump grinding/removal specifically to reclaim usable yard space. Why Hire a Professional for Stump Grinding? Stump grinding requires specialized equipment and experience to be done safely and effectively. Professional crews know how to avoid underground utilities, minimize damage to surrounding landscaping, and complete the job efficiently. Hiring a professional also reduces the risk of injury and ensures the stump is removed properly. Where Can I Find Stump Grinding & Removal in Sacramento, CA? Hazardous trees can pose a serious threat to homes, vehicles, power lines, and personal safety. Trees weakened by disease, storm damage, and decay are more likely to fail suddenly, especially during severe weather. Because removing dangerous trees often involves specialized equipment and safety precautions, many property owners have questions about the process. At BP Tree Services, our local arborists are happy to answer your questions about hazardous tree removal in the greater Sacramento area. What Makes a Tree Hazardous? A tree is considered hazardous when it shows signs that it may fall or drop large limbs unexpectedly. Common warning signs include deep cracks in the trunk, hollow sections, dead branches, severe leaning, root damage, and visible decay. Trees damaged by storms or disease can also become unstable. If a compromised tree is located near structures, driveways, sidewalks, or utility lines, the risk becomes even greater. Why Should Hazardous Trees Be Removed Professionally? Hazardous tree removal is extremely dangerous without the proper training and equipment. Unstable trees can behave unpredictably during removal, increasing the risk of injury or property damage. Professional arborists understand how to safely assess tree condition and determine the safest removal method. They use specialized tools, rigging systems, and protective equipment to control the process and minimize risks. How Do Arborists Remove Hazardous Trees? The removal process depends on the size, condition, and location of the tree. In many cases, arborists remove hazardous trees in sections rather than cutting the entire tree down at once. They may use ropes, cranes, or rigging systems to carefully lower limbs and trunk sections to the ground. This controlled approach helps protect nearby buildings and landscaping. What Happens After the Tree Is Removed? Once the tree has been removed, the company can handle debris cleanup and disposal. Many homeowners also choose stump grinding services to remove the remaining stump and restore the appearance and usability of the area. Where Can I Find Hazardous Tree Removal in Sacramento, CA? For expert tree removal in Sacramento, CA and the surrounding area, contact BP Tree Services at (916) 722-6321. Feel free to give us a call to ask for an arborist quote in greater Sacramento!

When a big tree becomes unstable, it can pose a serious safety hazard. A tree that suddenly topples can cause significant damage to homes and vehicles, and may even put people at risk of injury. Fortunately, many warning signs can indicate when a tree is at risk of falling. By recognizing these signs early, you can take action to prevent potential damage. At BP Tree Services, we can expertly identify and remove hazardous trees. Here are five common signs that a tree may be at risk of suddenly toppling. Noticeable Leaning While some trees naturally grow at a slight angle, a sudden or increasing lean is often a sign of instability. If a tree that was once upright begins to tilt, it may indicate root damage or shifting soil. A pronounced lean, especially after a storm, should be evaluated by a professional as soon as possible. Cracks in the Trunk Significant cracks or splits in the trunk are serious warning signs. These structural weaknesses can compromise the tree’s ability to support itself, especially during high winds. Deep or expanding cracks should never be ignored, as they often indicate internal damage. Exposed or Damaged Roots A tree’s root system is essential for stability. If you notice exposed roots or signs of root decay, the tree may be at risk of falling. Construction and erosion can weaken roots, reducing their ability to anchor the tree securely. Dead/Dying Branches A tree with a significant number of dead or dying branches may be struggling to stay healthy. Dead limbs are more likely to break off and can also indicate deeper issues within the tree. When large sections of the canopy are affected, it may signal that the tree’s overall structure is compromised. Fungal Growth or Decay at the Base The presence of fungal growth around the base of a tree can be a sign of internal decay. Rotting wood weakens the tree’s structure and reduces its stability. Decay at the base is particularly concerning because it affects the tree’s foundation, increasing the risk of sudden failure.
